On Being the Best

While in Gibson's with Chrissie, we watched 'The Kite Runner'. The father tells his son why stealing is such a horrible thing to do. And then he likens other 'sins' to stealing by saying: if you murder someone, you are stealing that person's right to a life, stealing his spouse's right to a spouse, a child's right to a parent.
Last night, Ron & I were discussing this.
I believe that every crime can in one way or another be considered stealing; Ron does not. Just the discussion over this was inspiring.
Prior to this, I had considered intolerance to be the greatest cardinal 'sin' & now feel that even intolerance can be linked to 'theft'.
For instance, you might be asked: Why did you not visit so-and-so while you were in the area? Or you might be asked instead: Why did you not visit so & so, I'd think any friend/parent/sibling would do so.
The same sentence but the latter one pre-judging and meaning to de-mean, to humiliate, to de-base, to shame etc. In doing so, does not intolerance then come right down to stealing that person's right to dignity, to peace of mind, to happiness, to freedom from pain - mental and/or physical?
Is not prejudice a form of stealing, in the same way that a lie could be?
I mention this because as I cross Canada, or some of the provinces thereof, I mean to show that the time came be profitably spent also contemplating some of the important issues/values of life...the meaning of life, and the meaning of good and evil.
And I expect to meet many different people and to chat with them.
Chatting means talking to others without making assumptions about them, pre-judging what they may be or do or have done.
We can learn, which is the alixure of life, as long as we accept the fact that we don't/can't know the history behind the decisions of others with whom we are conferring.
May you all live as though everyone around you deserves only the best, and IS the best. As I'm sure you all are. Love, K
